500 Trees Gifted in 50 Minutes!

Asheboro’s annual Christmas On Sunset event attracts thousands of folks to historic downtown - and is the perfect venue for Trees NC’s annual holiday tree giveaway.

Student volunteers from Asheboro City Schools’ Zoo School prepped 500 Norway Spruce seedlings that had been grown and nurtured by North Carolina Forestry Division. Trees NC board chair Bob Langston and Asheboro Chamber of Commerce helped gather a team of young volunteers for the tree giveaway.

And at 6 pm, as the streets filled with a diverse sea of happy faces, 500 trees were quickly in the hands folks excited to add a tree planting to their holiday season!
