NC Arbor Day Celebration Today!!
/NC Arbor Day helps us to remember the important role that trees play in our lives - Anytime you plant a tree you are helping stabilize soil, protecting air quality and getting exercise, too!
TreesNC and the City of Asheboro will give away 200 trees as part of the annual NC Arbor Day Celebration, to be held today, Friday March 18th at the center court in Randolph Mall in Asheboro.
The NC Arbor Day Celebration promises both fun and educational opportunities for the entire family and will include educational tables from local environmental organizations, music by the Charles W. McCrary Elementary School’s UNITE Club Drum Group, presentation of the official NC Arbor Day Proclamation and announcement of the winners of the TreesNC Arbor Day Photo Contest.
“This year we have a great choice of seedlings to offer the public, brilliantly colorful crepe myrtles.” said Bob Langston, TreesNC Board Chair, who has been busy preparing for the event. The tree give-away will begin today at 5:00PM, kicking off the Arbor Day celebration.
Sponsors for this year’s event include Randolph Electric Membership Corporation, Chic-Fil-A, the City of Asheboro, NC Zoo, Randolph County office of Cooperative Extension, Randolph Mall, and the Courier-Tribune.
