Farewell to Trees NC Board Member and Volunteer Vastine Franks

Long time Trees NC board member and volunteer Vastine Franks passed away on September 12th in Asheboro.  During her 92 years on earth Vastine was a powerhouse - an activist, student, and educator.  

Vastine was an enduring  inspiration for the mission and journey of Trees NC.  Her laughter, determination to fight for what she believed in, and tireless dedication to take care of her "babies"  (the thousands of youth she mentored as an after-school and summer season teacher in Asheboro's East Side neighborhood) will not be forgotten.  Farewell Vastine.
