Trees NC Presents City of Asheboro Inaugural Award

ASHEBORO — Trees NC Board President Owen George and several Board members presented City of Asheboro Mayor David Jarrell with the inaugural Tim Womick Award at the June City Council meeting. The award recognizes outstanding support for Trees NC's overarching goal to promote ecological stewardship and community collaboration.

Since Trees NC's inception in 2003 as Trees Asheboro, the City of Asheboro has partnered with or supported innumerable Trees Asheboro projects around the community. Furthermore, in 2008 the City initiated a plan to plant 100 trees per year for ten years throughout the city along major thoroughfares and urban streets.
